Welcome to the Velondriake JRC / FTM2V

by HERINDRAIBE, Junior Reporters Club, Madagascar

Ny FTM2V dia fikambanana hoan’ny Tanora Mpikaroka sy Mpampita Vaovao ato amin’ny faritra Velondriake sy manodidina azy. Ny fomba fiasan’ny FTM2V dia miara-miasa amin’ny projets misy ato amin’ny Blue Ventures sy ny fokon’olona eto an-toerana, dia ireo no ezahina hadihadiana mba hahazoana vaovao. Marihina fa ny FTM2V manao interview sy mangala film mikasika ny vaovao izay misy ato amin’ny faritra Velondriake momba ny tontolo iainana sy fanentanana isan-karazany. Ary mbola FTM2V ihany no manao ny montage video sy audio avy amin’ny film alainy, ary manao koa ny fandaharana radio Feom’Bezo indroa isam-bolana. Mbo misy koa ny fanaovana cours informatique hoan’ny FTM2V isan-kerinandro, miampy ny fianarana manao montage film. Misy ny fanaraha-maso isam-bolana izay ataon’ny tompon’andraikitra ato amin’ny Blue Ventures.

The Connecting Classrooms team – the JRC is part of the CC initiative

Taloha izany, dia tsy FTM2V no anaran’ny fikambanana, fa hoe JRC. Ny antony nahatonga anay nanova ny hoe JRC amin’ny teny gasy fa satria teny vazaha ny hoe JRC, ka tsy hain’olona aty amin’ny faritra sisin-driake izany. Izay no nahatonga ny fanovana ny anarana hoe JRC ka lasa FTM2V izy amin’izao, fa izao mora azavaina amin’ny namana sy ny manodidina.

Maro ny montage film efa vitanay: film momba ny education environnementale, film momba ny Dina Velondriake, film momba ny projet Aquaculture ao amin’ny BV (fiharea zanga sy fambolea lomotse), film momba ny fiofanana FTTF (Fanadiovana Tanteraka Tarihin’ny Fokon’olona), film momba ny forum MIHARI, film momba ny Vatohara hoan’ny Village Tour, film momba ny Fia hoan’ny Village Tour, film momba ny Oriagna hoan’ny Village Tour, film momba ny Rezerva Horita hoan’ny Village Tour, film momba ny fampianarana ara-tontolo iainana an-dakilasy, film momba ny fikambanana Teariake sy ny fanentanana “Andao fa Lera”, film momba ny Tsakafy, interview maro miaraka amin’ny mpianatra antofan’ny BV, film mikasika ny fitsidiana ny Renala miaraka amin’ny Connecting Classrooms, film momba ny fivoriana ny fikambanana Manjaboake, clip hira Arpavalerio “Hajao ny Tontolo Iainana”, ary clip hiran’ny Tariky Sylvere.

Ny programa amin’ny manaraka dia manatsara ny ezaka izay efa vita ary koa hanao fandaharana amin’ny radio sy hamorona tantara sy film hatao mba hanohizana ny fanentanana ny olona iaby amin’ny fiarovana ny tontolo iainana, ka manantena ny fahazotoantsika mijery sy manaraka ity blog’ny FTM2V ato amin’ny faritra Velondriake!

The FTM2V is the Youth Newsgathering and Reporters Club here in the Velondriake region and surrounding areas. The FTM2V works in partnership with Blue Ventures and the local community, and conducts interviews with them to gather news. The FTM2V uses film for its interviews and newsgathering on important issues in Velondriake, in particular about the environment and different sorts of community sensibilisations. The members of the FTM2V also do their own audio and video editing (montage), and contribute to the Feom’Bezo radio show twice monthly. They also benefit from a weekly computer skills course, where they also learn the editing process. The BV Education team conducts monthly evaluations of FTM2V progress.

Before, the name of the FTM2V club was JRC, or Junior Reporters Club. However the members decided to give their club a name in Malagasy, because JRC is in a foreign language and hard for people in this region to understand. This is why the JRC is now referred to as FTM2V, which is now easier to explain to friends and community members.

The JRC at some baobab trees – hard at work making films

The FTM2V has already finished a number of films: films on environmental education, the Velondriake Dina, the BV Aquaculture project (sea cucumber and seaweed farming), a film about the Community-Lead Total Sanitation project, the LMMA forum (for Locally-Managed Marine Areas), films for the Village Outreach Tour on the importance of the coral reefs, fish, seagrass, and the octopus reserves; a film about the new Teariake LMMA and the “It’s Time!” campaign, a film about the endangered spider tortoise, a number of filmed interviews with BV scholars, a film about the Connecting Classrooms trip to the baobab forest, a film about the Manjaboake LMMA, a music video of the “Respect the Environment” song by the local youth music group Arpavalerio, and music videos for educational songs by the local musician Sylvere.

In the future, the FTM2V will continue to improve its efforts and skills. The members will work to create radio programs, fictional educational stories, and more films to continue to educate the community on conservation issues. We hope that you will continue to follow our FTM2V blog, and hear more about our work here in the Velondriake region!
