Due to the success of the project local communities have now established plans for an MPA network incorporating 21 other villages in the region and covering 700km2.<\/p>\n<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/bp2.blogger.com\/_2sC8zyeHSQw\/RfhF8zTJP-I\/AAAAAAAAAH4\/5ceAGlhO-qs\/s1600-h\/Great%2BOctopus%2Bopening%2Bshot.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 166px; height: 124px;\" data-src=\"http:\/\/bp2.blogger.com\/_2sC8zyeHSQw\/RfhF8zTJP-I\/AAAAAAAAAH4\/5ceAGlhO-qs\/s200\/Great%2BOctopus%2Bopening%2Bshot.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5041856693706244066\" border=\"0\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size:85%;\">Andavadoaka and its conservation partners understand the inextrica<\/span><span style=\"font-size:85%;\">ble link bet<\/span><span style=\"font-size:85%;\">ween the livelihoods of the local population and the health of the marine resources, and recognised that the key to success of the initiative is community involvement.
