trying to get the freight released from customs has left me feeling rather tired, smelly, and dirty.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>As a highly active person I have found it very frustrating being contained in one vehicle all day long.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>Tried to go for a bit of a walk \u2013 but have found Tana not to be the best walking location \u2013 surprising that \u2013 cars and people fill the space and shouts of \u2018Mademoiselle!\u2019 and \u2018tssss, tsss\u2019 fill the air.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">I have come to expect unwanted attention as a lone female where ever I travel, but I still don\u2019t enjoy it; it has a tendency of cutting short any walking that I do.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>So exercise-wise I am just going to have to stick to yoga on the roof terrace and sit ups in the room until I get to the sea and to Andavadoaka.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"text-align: justify;float: right; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; cursor: pointer; \" data-src=\"http:\/\/bp0.blogger.com\/_2sC8zyeHSQw\/R1fhCQ7qSmI\/AAAAAAAAAQs\/bT44jmWXlpY\/s320\/14560028.JPG\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5140824928687901282\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">Lychee season is only a month in length in Madagascar \u2013 and is currently in full\u00a0swing \u2013 and I am enjoying their bounty.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>Bananas and Mangos too are ripe and street sellers sell nuts and veg. &#8211; plenty to keep a vegan happy.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>I have found lots of dried fruit too, so I am most definitely not going hungry.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">I felt a lot like I was on an expedition today \u2013 logistical issues a plenty!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>Since last time BV imported to Madagascar systems have changed and you need approximately 2.45 times more paperwork than previously.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>I am not sure it matters exactly what is on it so long as there is more of it and you have to travel to about three different places to receive it!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>There probably is a system, but anyways by the end of the day I am not sure we are much closer at getting all the dive kit, and staff goodies out!<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">Booking tickets for a flight from Tana to Tulear was not much easier \u2013 computers breaking and blatantly being ignored resulted in the tickets taking an hour to get.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>I really did not want to fly \u2013 hoped that by travelling with the freight I could not only save on money but on carbon too. Reducing those overheads and saving the atmosphere from more carbon!<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>But as with all things here \u2013 you can not rely on things.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>It s important now I press on &#8211; so then I will.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">I met with the Wildlife Conservation Society and discussed a proposed biogas project for Andavadoaka.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>They have some funding available depending on a feasibility study and some contribution money &#8211; this is most certainly a project we could get involved with.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>I will try to start the scoping work whilst in field \u2013 the potential is enormous \u2013 generating energy (either electricity \/ gas, reducing harmful pathogens, and creating compost for any form of growing and gardening.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"\">So it\u2019s the end of the day now \u2013 feel shattered \u2013 feel like I have come back a time zone and not forward.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>Achievements \u2013 good meeting with WCS, made some progress with freight, made a hotel reservation in French on the telephone!!!<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>And in emptying my bag I find I have brought a compass.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>Back from the expedition days.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>Looks like I am at my computer facing NWW.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/span>Useful.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Disappointments \u2013 not travelling overland to Tulear, found banks don\u2019t change South African Rand here&#8230;<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ellie Xx<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bvco.org.uk\/\">Blue Ventures Carbon Offset<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/p>\n<p>  <!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Friday 30th November 15:15 (UK) \/ 18:15 (Madagascar) \u00a0 A day of driving all over Tana centre on errands;
