Pauline oversees the development and implementation of our Safidy community health programme in Belo sur Mer, and also our mangrove fishery management and seaweed farming work at this site. She is responsible for managing site logistics and finance, coordinating between teams, and supporting our Malagasy staff to grow in their roles. Before joining Blue Ventures in March 2015, Pauline worked for over 10 years as a manager for various international development NGOs in Africa, Asia and Europe. She has experience ranging from reproductive and maternal health to sustainable livelihoods and children’s rights. In Sri Lanka and Burkina Faso, she managed community health projects with community-based volunteers. Pauline comes from France and grew up by the seaside in Brittany. She started free-diving while based in southeast Asia, and since then she always travels with her fins. She is excited to be contributing to BV’s marine conservation work.

From humble beginnings over five years ago, locally led mangrove fishery management initiatives are now flourishing in Belo sur Mer and surrounding villages, alongside community-based health promotion and alternative coastal livelihoods in the form of aquaculture.
